Sarah Lufungula

I began my studies in 2017 at the University of Witwatersrand (WITS) where I completed a BA in Speech and Hearing Therapy which I completed in 2021. In the course of my studies, I encountered a setback when I found out that I had to repeat one of my final year modules. I was absolutely shattered!

ISFAP had offered me a great amount of academic and personal support and I was thus able to complete my studies in 2021.

I went on to work as a community service speech therapist and audiologist at Edenvale Hospital in 2022 where I was able to gain exposure working with adult and paediatric populations with varied communication, feeding and hearing difficulties.

In January 2023, I relocated to the UK where I am currently employed by Words First as a school-based speech and language therapist.

I’m so grateful for all the hands that contributed to making my light shine!

ISFAP - the Ikusasa Student Financial Aid Programme - was established to assist poor and 'missing' middle income university students in selected fields of study to afford the university fees by means of providing financial aid provided the candidate meets certain prescribed requirements.
